Newport Media CyberLink, Compal Communications Inc., Newport Media, and
Viaccess, Announce Secure Mobile TV Solution for Smart Phones
Taipei, Taiwan - February 12, 2006 - 2006 --- CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), a world
leader in digital home solutions, has partnered with mobile device
manufacturer Compal Communications ncorporated (CCI), fabless
semiconductor company Newport Media, and conditional access specialist
Viaccess, to develop a mobile digital TV solution for smart phones. The four
companies are highlighting their secure solution featuring conditional access
at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, 12-15 February.
Together, the companies have developed a smart phone solution that provides
conditional access for broadcast mobile TV using a DVB-H network, ensuring
the viability of premium content owners and distributors. Fast switching
between TV channels, and high-quality playback, delivers a viewing
experience comparable to that on a home TV
The four-way partnership represents the following contributions:
- CCI-s smart phone offers high-performance and low power
consumption to ensure high-quality reception of mobile TV programs
- Viaccess offers content protection systems and expertise in DVB-H, as
well as digital rights management technology for video content
- Newport Media¡¯s MobiZap¢â technology provides a fast
channel-switching hardware-based solution enabling easy browsing
between TV channels
- CyberLink¡¯s Mobile DTV Solution ensures superior TV playback,
enables fast channel switching, and supports conditional access to
premium digital TV content.
